Whole Genome Sequencing of Antimicrobial-Resistant Bacteria in Africa SEQAFRICA Project (2020-–2026)

Whole Genome Sequencing of Antimicrobial-Resistant Bacteria in Africa SEQAFRICA Project (2020-2026)

Expanding WGS and bioinformatics capacity across Africa through sequencing AMR bacteria from One Health sources.

Status:

Completed

Objective

The SEQAFRICA project aimed to perform whole-genome sequencing of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria recovered from humans, animals, and the environment. The project significantly strengthened and expanded WGS and bioinformatics capacity at the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, Ghana, and across Africa, contributing to regional and global AMR surveillance.
